Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh, the largest state in North-East India (area-wise), currently comprises 28 districts. NIC has been present in the state since November 1988, with the establishment of the Arunachal Pradesh State Centre at the Civil Secretariat, Itanagar. Subsequently, NIC District Centres were set up in the offices of Deputy Commissioners across districts.
NIC has played a pivotal role in introducing ICT and e-Governance culture into the functioning of the state government. The rollout of NICNET, a satellite-based computer communication network, followed by Community Information Centres (CICs) in 56 block headquarters through VSAT connectivity, laid the foundation of grassroots governance through ICT.
One of the landmark initiatives, Jan-Suvidha – a single-window service delivery mechanism, implemented in the offices of Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners, significantly improved citizen service delivery and was widely recognized by the administrative machinery.
Over the years, the NIC Arunachal Pradesh State Centre has been instrumental in the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of numerous state-level and central projects.
