eTransport Mission Mode Project (eTransport MMP)
The eTransport Mission Mode Project (eTransport MMP), spearheaded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), is a transformative eGovernance initiative implemented across 35 States/UTs in India. This comprehensive project integrates flagship applications such as Vahan, Sarathi, eChallan, and more, drastically enhancing the efficiency of Road Transport Office (RTO) processes, citizen service delivery, and related activities.
Key Applications and Services
The eTransport Project encompasses several major applications, including:
- Vahan : Vehicle registration and related services
- Sarathi : Driving licenses and related services
- eChallan : Traffic enforcement solution
- PUCC : Pollution Under Control (PUC) compliance system
- VLT&EAS : Vehicle Location Tracking and Emergency Alert System
- Parivahan Analytics Portal
- iRAD/eDAR : Integrated Road Accident Database/Electronic Detailed Accident Report
- NextGen mParivahan : A mobile app providing access to over 75+ transport-related services for citizens : Integrated Road Accident Database/Electronic Detailed Accident Report

Objectives of the eTransport Project
- Digitize the entire transportation sector’s IT infrastructure nationwide and the work environment of Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
- Establish a seamless, efficient, and transparent system prioritizing citizen convenience and safety through advanced data management and verification mechanisms.
- Enhance citizen-centric service delivery by minimizing RTO visits and maximizing online service facilitation.
- Facilitate road safety through IT enabled interventions in the form of eChallan, eDetection, eDAR etc.
- Facilitates easy access to services and utilities through NextGent mParivahan mobile app.
- Expand and enhance Government-to-Citizen (G-C), Government-to-Business (G-B), and Government-to-Government (G-G) services.
- Enable secure data sharing with approved users following the data sharing policy.
- Strengthen regulatory oversight and enforcement, advance road safety initiatives, reduce bureaucratic barriers, and foster trust within the eTransport ecosystem.

The eTransport project has evolved significantly beyond its initial focus on vehicle registration and driving license services. By continuously exploring new service areas, the project is steadily transforming into a robust public digital platform that serves both internal and external stakeholders through open and secure APIs.
