    AI for Effective Governance

    • NIC organized a one-day workshop on “AI for Effective Governance”, at IIM Udaipur, on 11 Dec, 2025.The workshop focused on creating awareness among senior Government officials and industry partners on leveraging Artificial Intelligence for a future-ready, AI-driven ICT ecosystem in the Government.

    • The AI for Effective Governance workshop began at IIM Udaipur with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Prof. N. P. Padhy, Director, MNIT, Jaipur; Shri P.K. Mittal, DDG, NIC; Smt. Sharmistha Dasgupta, DDG, NIC; and Dr. P. Gayatri, DDG & SIO, NIC Rajasthan. The workshop marked a significant step towards strengthening administrative excellence and fostering innovative Governance practices.

    • Shri Narayana Prasad Padhy, Director, MNIT, Jaipur, delivered an insightful address on “Next-Generation Energy Management for Scaling Renewables through Distributed Storage using AI”. He highlighted the transformative role of AI in the energy sector, the rising energy demand in the country, and the critical importance of AI-driven solutions for efficient energy management. He emphasized that renewable energy from sun, water & wind supported by intelligent technologies, remains the most effective pathway to ensuring reliable and accessible energy for all.

    • Smt. Sharmistha Dasgupta, DDG, NIC, delivered an insightful presentation on Intelligence-Augmented eGovernance Workflows. She introduced the audience to predictive AI, Generative AI, and large language models, highlighting their growing impact on digital governance. She also showcased NIC’s key AI initiatives—VANI, AI Shruti, AI Nibhrit, and the Image & Video Analytics Assistance platform (IVAANI)—demonstrating how these innovations are transforming public service delivery.

    • Shri Bharat Gidwani, Senior Solution Architect, NVIDIA, delivered a session on AI-Powered Urban Planning and Smart Decision-Support. He presented how accelerated computing demands full-stack optimization—from chip architecture & systems to acceleration libraries & application refactoring. He also provided an insightful overview of the ongoing AI revolution, emphasizing how agentic AI is paving the way for more powerful, adaptive, and intelligent applications across domains.

    • Shri Shashank S. Thakur, Vice President (Business) CoRoverAI/BharatGPT, delivered a presentation on “AI for Bharat: Scaling Efficiency in Governance”. He highlighted how enterprise-grade conversational AI agents, such as Chatbots, Voicebots, and Videobots, enable seamless text, voice, and video interactions across multiple languages. He further explained how CoRover & #BharatGPT are helping Businesses and Government Departments automate customer support, enhance service delivery, and efficiently manage complex tasks.

    • Shri Aftab Saloda, Sr. VP, Cyber Security, Silverse, delivered a presentation on AI and Cybersecurity for Government. He emphasized the need for awareness, accountability, and strong cyber controls to enhance security across public sector environments. He spoke about the importance of responsible AI implementation to ensure secure and trustworthy digital governance and outlined how AI strengthens cybersecurity capabilities, along with managing the emerging threats posed by its malicious use.

    • Shri Abhishek Singh, Addl. Secretary, MeitY and DG, NIC, delivered the keynote address on “AI for Governance: Building the Foundations for Scale & Trust”. He highlighted how AI is emerging as a force multiplier for public service delivery, showcasing multiple use cases deployed across Government operations through common, scalable technologies. He outlined various sector-specific AI applications developed to enhance efficiency and drive innovation, while also addressing the challenges associated with building and deploying trustworthy AI systems.

    • Shri Sushil Kumar Agrawal, Scientist-C, NIC, presented the PadhaiwithAI tool and its transformative impact on School education across Tonk District, Rajasthan. He highlighted how the initiative is designed to enhance learning outcomes & improve examination results in Govt Schools. Digital solutions like PadhaiwithAI showcase the power of AI-driven interventions in strengthening classroom learning & supporting students with personalised, and outcome-focused education.

    • Shri Prashant Kumar Mittal, DDG, NIC, emphasized the real-world impact of AI—beyond technology and theory, highlighting how practical implementations are transforming Governance, strengthening cybersecurity, and reshaping everyday operations. AI is influencing every aspect of our lives, working tirelessly with the same level of efficiency 24×7 without fatigue.

    • Dr. P. Gayatri, SIO & DDG, NIC, delivered Vote of Thanks at AI for Effective Governance Workshop, at IIM Udaipur. She expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries for sharing insightful perspectives on AI & acknowledged the valuable contributions that enriched the discussions.
