- Strengthening Cyber Resilience in Maharashtra!
NIC & Information Technology Department, Government of Maharashtra hosted a Cyber Security awareness event in Mumbai, inaugurated by Hon’ble IT Minister, Maharashtra Shri ShelarAshish, who emphasized that cybersecurity & digital literacy are essential & need of the hour, not a luxury.
- In the digital era, while all services are available at one click, Police assistance for Cyber Issues is now equally accessible. To strengthen cyber safety and streamline response, two helpline numbers-1930 & 1945 – have been made operational.” said Sh. Yashasvi Yadav, IPS, ADG.
- Govt. of India has assigned clear responsibilities for telecom & Cyber Security across Departments. Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Gov of India & NIC have appointed a CISO & Dy. CISO in each Ministry, and NIC is preparing G-SOP with a dedicated Centre at Shastri Park, Delhi: Dr. Rajesh Kumar Pathak, DDG, NIC.
- NIC Tamil Nadu organized a One-Day Cyber Security Awareness Workshop in Chennai as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (October 2025). The event was graced by Thiru Brajendra Navnit, IAS, Principal Secretary, IT & Digital Services Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
The workshop aimed to enhance understanding of cyber threats, best practices for digital safety, and the importance of security measures in safeguarding Government systems and citizen data.
NIC officials shared insights on emerging challenges related to cybersecurity, preventive measures, application & network security, etc. The sessions encouraged participants to build a secure digital ecosystem.
- A Cyber Security Awareness Workshop was organized by NIC in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, bringing together 200+ officers from various departments of the Government of Odisha and NIC Officials from different States.
Shri Vinaytosh Mishra, Director General of Police, CID Crime Branch, Odisha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and shed light on emerging threats such as Cyber Fraud, Cyber crime, Digital Arrest and personal data breaches.
The workshop featured 8 technical sessions focusing on diverse aspects of cyber security, strengthening awareness and preparedness across Departments.

Shri Alok Tiwari, DDG & HoG, Cyber and Information Security Analytics Division, shared valuable insights on the latest trends shaping the cybersecurity landscape.
Expert Talks by Prof. Arunabha Mukhopadhyay on “Cyber Supply Chain Management & 3rd Party Risk Management” and Mr. Tanzin on “Zero Trust Architecture” highlighted the need for robust strategies to counter evolving cyber threats.

- An insightful webinar on Log Analytics, Security Trends Project, and AI Effects in Cybersecurity was organized by NIC. The session focused on discussions around emerging security challenges and the transformative impact of AI on cybersecurity practices.

Expert talks by Shri Syed Taha Owais, Sr. Director (IT), NIC, and Mr. Amit Dubey, Cyber Investigation Expert, highlighted the importance of Log Analytics and safeguarding the digital world in the age of AI.

- NIC invites inputs on draft RFPs for Cyber Security
NIC is in the process of finalizing RFPs to strengthen its Cyber Security framework. To promote transparency and wider participation, NIC has published the draft RFPs for review and inputs at https://www.nic.gov.in
- Password is your first line of defense against cyber threats.
For enhanced security, a strong password must include a combination of uppercase & lowercase letters, numeric digits, and at least one special character.
- Public Wi-Fi is convenient but dangerous for financial transactions.
For any banking or payment activity, use secure WiFi/mobile data, enable multi-factor authentication, verify the bank site and SSL certificate before logging in and keep client software updated.
- Never disclose your net banking password, OTP, PIN, UPI PIN or any authentication codes.
Banks will never request such information through phone, email, chat, or social media. If you are asked for it, report the incident to your bank immediately.

Keeping the same password for too long increases the risk of cyber fraud.
Update your passwords regularly and keep your digital life secure.

Think twice before sharing sensitive content. Once it’s online, it’s out there forever.
Not everything belongs on social media. Protect your personal life by being cautious with what you share.
- Secure Your Account!
Check for genuineness of banking & other financial portals before logging in and always log out after the transaction.
This simple step protects your account from unauthorized access.
- Log in to your bank account at least once a week (or daily if possible) to review all recent transactions, and if you see any unfamiliar transactions, contact your bank right away to raise a concern.
- Always keep location services turned off on your social media apps & only enable them when it is absolutely necessary to share your location.
- Don’t give cyber threats a chance — install and regularly update your security tools.
- Think Before You Share – Review Your Social Media Privacy Settings.
- Share your screen only with trusted tech support personnel & close all sensitive apps (banking, email, etc.) before sharing the screen.
- Stay alert for look-alike websites & impersonated company accounts on social media.
- Ensure you regularly back up essential files, including documents, photos & emails, to an external hard drive.
- Before you believe or share anything online, check the source, date, and authenticity.
- Think before you download!
Unverified apps can steal your data or harm your device.
Always install applications from trusted sources only.
- Government agencies and banks do not contact citizens via call or SMS to ask for personal or financial information.
Always verify before sharing.
- Stay Alert!
Job offers asking for money are scams. Don’t fall for them.
Real companies won’t charge money for jobs.
Never pay.
- Confirm the legitimacy of the company before applying by checking its official website and reading employee and customer reviews online.
- Stay Secure: Update your browser regularly and enable safe browsing for stronger protection.
- Always check before clicking on links in emails, even if they appear to come from a legitimate or familiar source.
- Never leave your device without locking or securing it. This prevents unauthorized access and protects your data & system from misuse.
- Exercise caution while handling email attachments from unknown sources.
Always verify the authenticity of the sender to prevent potential security risks.
- Always back up your personal data before sending your device for repair, service, or sale.
